As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, Gurugram-based IndiGo has cancelled many domestic flights, while operations from key airports in Delhi, Mumbai, and Trivandrum are going on with increased security measures.

Flight cancellations are accompanied by the temporary shutdown of 24 airports in northern and western India, such as Srinagar, Amritsar, and Leh. IndiGo has suspended all flights to and from cities like Jammu, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kishangarh and Rajkot until May 10 at 12 am.

In spite of the cancellations, Delhi, Mumbai, and Trivandrum airport authorities have assured that overall operations are normal. The passengers have been instructed to expect delays because of stringent security screening and fluctuating airspace conditions. Advisories remind passengers to plan early arrival, adhere to hand and check-in baggage regulations, and remain updated through official channels of the airline.

While Mumbai and Trivandrum airports recommended early arrival as a precaution to avoid inconvenience due to longer waiting time at security, Delhi Airport declared that operations remain normal although flight schedules may be impacted. Increased screening and passenger checks are being conducted at all terminals.

The security warning comes after Operation Sindoor, the counterattack by Indian military targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The move was in retaliation to the April Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead. With events still unfolding, passengers are advised to remain vigilant for further announcements and assist security authorities at airports and airline crew.
